Federal election 2025 – We remain queer!
From the club to democracy
The queer community is looking ahead this weekend. Even though right-wing forces are trying to restrict our freedoms, we will not be intimidated. This weekend is the time for us to actively strengthen the queer scene! If you can vote, go and vote and ask everyone you know to join you on Sunday. Tick the box for “More human rights, less power for right-wing people!”
Queer spaces are culture and history – and they need protection
Berlin is a city with a rich queer history. Our clubs, bars and community spaces are not just places to party, but also important cultural and political spaces. They stand for diversity, democracy and freedom – values that need to be defended and protected. Queer people from all corners of Germany and the world come here because we can be authentic. This privilege must continue to be safeguarded, and that is only possible if anti-democratic and fascist parties do not come to power.
The rights that we have fought for as the LGBTQIA+ community cannot be taken for granted. They can be taken back, as is unfortunately the case in the USA at the moment. There, state funding for many groups of people is being cancelled and the rights of queer people, migrants and women are being restricted. Trans* rights, HIV services, PreP, abortion, marriage for all – none of these advances of recent decades are safe if fascists take power.
German right-wing conservative politicians are also trying to use queerophobia as an advertisement and are incorporating misanthropic ideas into their programmes. Here you can find out what the positions of the German parties are on queer rights:

Queer partying is and will remain political
SchwuZ stands for an open society in which diversity and tolerance are a matter of course for future generations. Find your friends and chosen families – party together in queer places and go to the polls together on Sunday!
Our queer identities unite us, but even more than that: our shared desire for a safe and tolerant society keeps us together. SchwuZ is not just a club – it is also a political space, because it is where different people from different lifestyles come together to celebrate, dance, get to know each other, fall in love, recover from the heteronormative world and prove that it is not our differences but our similarities that make society strong.
“SchwuZ shows what a society can look like in which diversity and cohesion go hand in hand. To ensure that this does not remain a utopia but becomes reality, it is crucial to vote on Sunday!” says Katja Jäger, Managing Director of SchwuZ.
So let’s come together, be loud and actively shape our future!
